What does HIV evoke in you? How do you feel within yourself?

Healthy, Inspiring & Vibrant?

We know that an HIV diagnosis can trigger deep-held beliefs and feelings. And yet, we also know that we are far bigger, wiser, more beautiful and powerful.

This is what Positive Affirmation Day is all about: using the letters H-I-V to capture your essence, your greatness, your beauty, your shine - and to put into your art.

For this one-off and unique afternoon, Thrive and PositivelyMindful are teaming up to offer a few fun-filled hours in which you are invited to create your own 'Positive Affirmation Day' artwork - for your own personal use or for sharing on your social media.

All the materials you need will be provided on the day - and we will also have tea and coffee flowing!

You can then stay on and attend the Thrive Open Mic & Stage night - and watch wonderful amateur and professionals performers (including yourself if you want to!).

How we speak about and describe the virus can limit us and perpetuate the negative associations we make. World Aids Day is an opportunity to remember, to honour the past, so Positive Affirmation Day is a time to be present, alive and joyful.

On the 2nd of December we can affirm that living with this virus does not prevent us from loving, contributing and creating a greater world for future generations.

In choosing uplifting and light hearted ways to share the acronym H.I V. we show solidarity and connection, offer an opportunity to be open and to begin a 'positive' dialogue. We create the possibility for people to rethink what it means to be living with H.I.V. and celebrate all that we are and can be.

If you are living with H.I.V., know a friend or family member who is, or simply wish to support this event - all our welcome! You will have the opportunity to create your own piece of art with 3 words  3 words beginning with the letters H, I and V.
